ORDER LARGER & TRIM TO FIT
You don’t always need a panel made to the exact finished dimensions of your insert.
For many applications, you can order a Starlight panel slightly larger than the area you’re working with and carefully trim around the outer edges to achieve your final size and shape.
This gives your upholsterer or installer additional material to work with when positioning the panel and planning seams, edges, wrapping, and final fitment.
For example, if you’re creating a custom seat or door insert, you can start with a larger panel, lay out your finished design, and trim the perimeter to fit your application.
Installer Tip: When possible, it’s better to have a little extra material to work with than to order a panel that’s too small.
IMPORTANT WHEN TRIMMING
Always plan your finished shape and cutting area before trimming the panel.
Because the Starlight fibers are already installed, care must be taken when cutting, sewing, or modifying the panel. Do not cut through or damage the fiber optic strands needed for your finished Starlight design.
Trim only where appropriate around the perimeter and make sure your seam locations, final dimensions, and fiber routing have been planned before installation.
If your project requires a significantly different size or layout, we recommend ordering a custom-size panel instead.
